What is an escape room?
An escape room is a live, in-person exciting adventure for 2 to 14 players. You and your group are placed in a themed room with only one hour to find clues, decode hints, crack codes and solve puzzles. Team work and cooperation are key… being smarter than a 5th grader is also a big help.
If you get stuck, you can ask for clues from your Game Master. It is their job to assist you to escape. Teams that collaborate and communicate effectively have the highest success rate.
Am I really locked in a room?
No! For safety reasons, the entry door remains unlocked during the game. You can always exit back out the way you came in to use the restroom or take a quick phone call. However, you don’t get points for that! The goal is to discover the locked, hidden exit and escape through there!
Do you have any advice for someone new to escape games?
Have fun! Communicate with your group and enjoy the ride. Leave no stone unturned and no detail overlooked. Sometimes the answer will be right in front of you! Just ask a 5th grader!
Do I need a reservation?
Yes! We highly recommend that you book in advance to ensure you are able to play the game you want at the time you desire. Click one of the “Date & Times” buttons to make a reservation. Walk-ins are welcome, but can only be accommodated if there is available space in one of the games. Crawl-ins are also welcome, but Slither-ins may only use the Harry Potter Room.
What should I bring?
Everything you need will be provided within the game area, so leave your personal belongings in your car. You may consume food and snacks in the lobby area before and after the game. If you take your cell phone with you into the game, we ask that you turn it to silent mode so that you do not disturb the other players with personal calls or texting. The only things we ask is that you do not take pictures of puzzle or clue solutions, so that others can come and enjoy the same new and exciting experience that you get to have. At the end of the game, we will take a picture of your group using your phone if you want, so you can send it to your friends and brag about your escape!
How long is each game?
You should plan to arrive about 10-15 minutes early and stay for a few minutes after the game for pictures, a drink or to give us feedback about your experience. The game takes 60 minutes, so plan about an hour and 20 minutes for the entire experience.
What is the cost?
Our list price is $24.99 per person. However, if you purchase a private room, the cost is only $16.50 per person. We also offer group discounts and various specials. Visit the Deals page to see the current specials. You can also subscribe to our mailing list on our home page to get details. You pay for your game online at the time you make your booking. We accept any major credit card. We also accept sacks of coins… gold and silver are preferred!
What do we get if we escape the rooms?
Ultimate bragging rights! And maybe, the treasure! Win or lose, the experience itself is fun, but those who escape understand the “thrill of victory”.
What happens if we fail to escape the rooms?
Don’t worry! Each group is assigned a Game Master and their job is to help you succeed by giving clues and guidance. The rooms are difficult to solve, but we try to help everyone escape! Those who fail can come back for a remedial course in basic problem solving, taught by (you guessed it) a 5th grader.
Is Escapes in Time suitable for children?
We love children! Santa’s Been Kidnapped was designed to accommodate the entire family, so toddlers are welcome in that room. The other rooms are designed to challenge adults. Children as young as 7 or 8 can participate and have fun if they are with a family group where there are older adults to help them. An adult must accompany minor children at all times during the escape game. You know your children and their capabilities. Some children may love the puzzles and be able to solve many of them. Others may become frustrated or bored. Toddlers or small babies in arms are welcome if your group has reserved a private room. However, if you will be participating with less than the maximum players, we ask that you find appropriate child care for your infants and children so that other game players are not inconvenienced.
Do you have handicapped access?
The main level of Escapes in Time is handicapped accessible. This includes the main waiting area, the orientation room, the bathrooms and our Baker Street, OK Corral and Leonardo’s Loot escape rooms. The Crazy Hoarder’s Attic, Pandora’s Paranormal Parlour and Santa’s Been Kidnapped! rooms are located on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. The 2nd floor rooms are only accessible to someone who can climb stairs.
When should I arrive for my reservation?
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your reserved time to ensure your group is checked-in and ready to go at your scheduled start time. Our lobby has plenty of room for your group to relax, socialize, play brain teasers and drink a soda. So come in and get those brains ready for challenge!
What if I am late?
Games start on time. Late arrivals may miss the orientation and may not have the necessary time to solve all of the puzzles and escape. We will try to give you extra time if possible, but the rooms are often booked back to back and it is not fair to the next group if your group is late. It’s best if everyone arrives on time.
Are bookings refundable?
When you make your booking, you can purchase Refund Insurance for $3.00 which will ensure that you are eligible for a refund up until the time of your booking. If you do not purchase refund insurance and you have an unexpected emergency, we can re-schedule you at a later date with a minimum of 24 hours notice. If you do not notify us within 24 hours of your scheduled time, the booking fee cannot be refunded.
Do you provide any team or corporate training?
We offer training that incorporates the escape games and can help you to build a high-performance team, improve communication and drive business success. Our owner, Marilyn Momeny, has over 25 years of experience as a business executive and certified coach. She personally facilitates all corporate training. Visit our Team Building page for more info!
Can I hold a party or company event at Escapes in Time?
Absolutely! We welcome any type of private event from family reunions to office parties. We can also do bachelor parties, but we draw the line at bikini models popping out of a cake! We have a conference room and catering options available. You can book partial space or the entire facility. Contact us at (801) 616.3066 so we can help you plan your event.
Can I book a game just for my group?
Absolutely. Private room means only your group will be in the escape room. The rooms are set at a 34% discount for the entire room. If you purchase less than the maximum available slots in a public room, it is possible that others can purchase the rest of the admissions to that game time and you would be playing with other customers which is a fun way to make new friends!
